I was just notified that the three-year plan for my web hosting with bluehost was coming to an end. This obviously meant that it would need to be renewed soon. Initially, I wasn’t too worried about this as I had the auto-renewal feature set up. I also had the available money required for the purchase when the time came.
Invalid payment information
I soon ran into a couple of problems. Firstly, the auto-renewal program failed. This is because the old credit card information I was using as a payment method was no longer valid. Unbeknownst to me, the card had expired.
Havoc in the foreign exchange markets
The next issue had to do with the recent turbulence in the currency markets specifically in regard to the British pound. Due to the pound’s tanking value, the price of my new hosting had gone up quite drastically.
This was amplified seeing as it was an American company and I had to pay in US dollars. This caused me to panic a little at first.
I eventually had to bite the bullet and follow through with the purchase of the new web hosting anyway. Furthermore, I was running out of time and didn’t want the service of my website to be disrupted by this obstacle.
Due to the high price, I decided to be cautious and only pay for one year rather than three like I had previously. Do you think I made the right decision here? Can you think of any other reliable, good-value web hosts that might be a good fit for me in the future?
