For anyone who doesn’t know, I have had past experience with investing in a few different markets. In particular, I filled the role of being a speculative currency trader for a few years in a previous life with varying levels of success.
My history with investing
I’ve written about investing and my feelings on it within posts and articles on this very website. I still dabble in investing and trading from time to time but not as much as I once did. I currently have an investor account with a company called vanguard in a much more hands-off arrangement.
Withdrawing capital & losing cash
Recently, I had to close my position on a certain investment and withdraw some money due to unforeseen issues in my life. This wasn’t ideal or convenient as I had pulled money from my investment in US government treasury bonds.
This hadn’t been performing well anyway and unfortunately resulted in an overall loss for me. However, it was a necessary measure for me personally as I needed the cash right away.
In an effort to save money, still have a bit of money invested and diversified in a few other instruments including stocks and currency. Furthermore, I will definitely keep you updated on any major changes.
Are you currently investing your money or do you have an interest in doing so? What’s the largest amount of money you’ve ever lost on an investment and how did it happen?
