Laptop Problems Part 4: Black Screens, Browsers & Switching Out

Personally, I almost feel like I haven’t had much luck with technology. The second I seem to overcome one problem, I immediately run into another obstacle waiting to trip me up. Although, if it’s something unsubstantial, I can usually make do. I will typically find a work around if worst comes to the worst.

Blank Screen

I was fairly happy with my new arrangement. Everything was going well for a few days until I ran into another big problem. After being powered up for a few hours, I noticed that the screen would go completely blank.

This was the case even though the laptop was still technically on. I knew this because the lights on the caps lock and mute keys still functioned. Apparently, this is a BIOS issue from what I have gathered but I could be mistaken.

Laptop Cooldown Period

There wasn’t a lot I could do about this. I found that immediately turning off and on again would not solve the problem. I eventually discovered that switching off and then waiting overnight would cause the screen to start working again.

However, the black screen would constantly keep coming back. For this reason, I have to repeat this process every now and then.

Finding a new web browser

This was inconvenient to put it lightly, but at least I could work around it. While retrieving some documents from my old laptop, I made a pleasant discovery.

I found that I could now successfully download and use a new browser. This revelation suddenly made the blue laptop operational again. I chose the Opera web browser as I had heard good things about it.

Swapping out laptops

This was great news. It meant that I was in a situation where I had a pair of laptops that both didn’t work up to a certain degree. However, at least now I could switch between the two temperamental computers. This would make it easier whenever the other one chose to stop working.

I have tried my best to find appropriate solutions for the computing problems that have prevented me from doing my work. However, If I have any more laptop issues then I will likely have to bite the bullet and invest in a new computer.

I have resisted this in an effort to save money (as is the purpose of this entire website). Although, like I say, I may be left with no choice. Have you ever had blank screen issues on your computer? In your opinion, what is the best web browser available right now?
