Earn £12 Per Hour (+ Bonus) Distributing Flyers, Leaflets & Catalogs

We all want to make the most money possible from our day jobs, whichever industry you work in. Why wouldn’t we?
Some people enjoy their jobs (myself included) and some people don’t. In the end, it all comes down to the almighty dollar (or £ if you are in the UK as I am). What if I told you that you can earn decent pay for flyer and leaflet distribution work?
“Huh! … You mean I can make bank just by putting advertising material through doors?” Yes, that’s right. You can make a lot of money on the go similar to mystery shopping.
Distribution work isn’t rocket science but the perks may surprise you. It certainly surprised me when I first started handing out leaflets and flyers.
Why would an employer pay someone so generously for simply putting leaflets through doors? Conversely, it seems like such an unusual line of work for earning big money, doesn’t it?
You can make more cash than you could possibly imagine just by distributing flyers, leaflets, and catalogs. It’s not just about the base pay either. Personally, I know from experience that you can earn bonus payments for going that extra mile.
This is twice as nice. In reality, not many jobs offer bonuses these days. This is all the more reason why you should keep reading.
Certain clients who use this form of advertising have claimed to earn back £6 for every £1 that they spend on distribution marketing.
Other companies have reportedly made the claim of earning upward of a 40x return on investment just from door-drop marketing. It’s an understatement to call this “pretty effective“, am I right?
This a good for the client and the distributor considering the amount of money in circulation. There seemed to be many more reasons why businesses should use distribution marketing rather than why they shouldn’t.
This information shows you just how successful flyer distribution is and how much money there is to earn. In truth, it’s one of the many reasons why companies compensate distributors so well.
I find that the cash that you can take home from distribution jobs can hinge on a few different factors. These include how fast you can work to how charismatic you are when it comes to the sales pitch. Although, only a handful of distribution jobs will need you to talk directly to customers.
Come with me now as I guide you through why and more importantly how you can make so much money from these leaflet distribution jobs. Let’s take a look together.
How much money can I earn from flyer distribution work?
Let’s get right to the point, shall we? Straight to dessert. How much money do distributors make? I will try to give you a rough estimate of the potential wages you can make for delivering flyers, posters, and leaflets. Comparatively, this will be mostly based on my time as a distributor. Let’s take a look-see:
- £6-12 per hour
- £150-500 per week
- £600-2,000 per month
- over £20,000 per year
Will I earn more money for shared distribution jobs?
If you are doing a shared distribution with multiple leaflets or flyers rather than performing a solus delivery then you will make more money.
In addition, this makes a lot of sense as you are distributing multiple flyers to each recipient all in one go. Why distribute one flyer when you can deliver 5 and make 5x as much money?
The distribution company will be making more money from all these clients that are put in groups together. It’s only fair that some of that additional compensation will be passed down to you the distribution worker as well.
Which factors will affect my distribution earnings?
This is a difficult question to answer because there are a lot of variables at play. I know this isn’t what you want to hear but let me try to clarify a few details first. Clearly, payment for distribution jobs will differ depending on a few different things including:
- what you are distributing (posters, leaflets, flyers, catalogs, brochures, business cards, restaurant menus, magazines, newspapers etc.)
- who you are working for (a fully-fledged distribution company or maybe just yourself)
- how good you are at selling something (this mostly just applies to catalog and brochure distribution)
- your flexibility and how many hours you can work per month
- how quickly you can work or how many flyer and leaflet deliveries you can do in a single period of time (be more like The Road Runner and less like Wile E. Coyote MEEP MEEP)
- if your distribution job provides a bonus or not
How do employers pay flyer & leaflet distributors?
When do distributors get paid? The likelihood of the company paying you in cash on the day increases with a distribution job. Furthermore, I know this because I’ve been paid before through this method.
Your distribution supervisors will mostly be out in the field with you. They will be keeping a steady eye on every distributor. It’s sometimes easier for them to sort your wages out at the end of the day seeing as they’re in the vicinity.
How do distributors get paid? Boring as it sounds, it might be the case that the company will pay you the same way as most other conventional jobs. They usually do this through an automatic bank transfer every week or month.
Some distribution companies even like to pay workers online. Payment will happen differently depending on who you are working for, obviously.
If you are running your own flyer distribution company or even work as a freelancer for that matter then I would recommend using https://www.zintego.com/.
This company offers quick, easy, and professional online invoicing services for you and your business. They offer both free and premium services so there is something for everybody.
Can a distribution worker earn a promotion?
This isn’t the dead-end job that you might think it is. In contrast, if you stick with a distribution job and work really hard then you can earn a promotion as a team supervisor.
You can take this even further. Maybe eventually you will be a high-ranking distribution manager or marketing director one day. I’ve known low-level distributors who have progressed to these elite positions when I was doing this work.
This way you’ll get to tell other people what to do hehe. Clearly, having more responsibilities means more money as well.
Freelance workers can even set up their own flyer distribution company if they really want to. This means they aren’t left out either. All it takes is some entrepreneurial spunk.
If you do this then you will be a business owner. Eventually, you can hire your very own leaflet distributors. This will help grow your business and increase your earnings.
A great website to advertise your freelance distributing services is Fiverr. I highly recommend this site based on its good reputation and popularity. Check it out.
How much do clients pay for flyer & leaflet distributions?
It depends on what kind of delivery service they decide to tailor for themselves. Notably, it’s possible for brands to customize what sort of flyer advertising campaign they want to pay for.
It’s kind of like buying a new hat or any other accessory for your much-loved Empress of the Aliens Barbie, except nothing like that at all. Some distribution services will be more expensive than others. This is usually the case if they are more thorough and last longer.
Some distribution companies charge clients up to a whopping £200 per 1000 distributions. Yes, the price can really go this high.
This is good for the distributor (you) because it means you are earning a decent cut from all this. More often than not, you can earn well over the minimum wage as I’ve already explained.
Do distributors need to pay any additional fees?
Most of the time, you won’t. However, some distribution companies will want you to pay upfront fees. This money will cover stuff like:
- plastic wallets (to protect posters from the rain)
- catalog printing
- travel costs (fuel or bus tickets)
- various other on-the-job expenses
This is a little unfair and I usually wouldn’t recommend employers that make you pay upfront costs. As a matter of fact, I kind of see this as a little tight-fisted on their part.
You would expect a big flyer distribution business to take care of these things. Ideally, they shouldn’t shift the responsibility and financial burden on to the distributor.
Conclusion
The money is surprisingly high isn’t it? These are the basic steps that you can take to earning a fair salary from a flyer distribution job. Moreover, I hope you can take this information and use it in a way that will get you a good slice of the pie as I have.
We can learn that money in distribution work depends on working smarter but not necessarily harder. Your income will factor in how you work and who you are working for exactly.
We also know about the positions of power (and money) we can strive for. This is great in terms of career progression within the distribution industry.
You may still want to learn more about earning your full, deserved salary from distribution work. I would advise that you get your hands on some books about flyer distribution
These books are available at a very affordable price. You can also teach yourself about the skills necessary to excel in a distribution job (therefore earning more money).
I suggest that your next move should be to research different leaflet distribution employers. Correspondingly, study particularly how they can assist you as a distributor. You can then compare all of your options and pick the route that benefits you the most.
How much money have you earned from distribution work? What is your preferred payment method for a distribution job? Have you ever been promoted doing this line of work? Please don’t forget to share this with your friends and comment below. Thanks for reading!
