Which Public Locations Do Poster & Flyer Distributors Work In?

This might seem like an obvious answer to a stupid question but there is more to deciding where to distribute flyers than you would believe.
The number of hot spots for flyer, leaflet and poster distribution campaigns is vast. Don’t worry, nobody will make you trek through the Amazon rainforest or the mountain ranges of Nepal.
A flyer distributor mostly works in the great outdoors but they can also distribute within public buildings and the like. In addition, I know from experience that these public places can range from libraries to shopping malls.
There is always a great demand for distribution marketing wherever there are lots of people. The public like to frequent high streets so that would be a good spot for someone to hand out flyers, for example. Brands want as many members of the public to see their distribution materials as possible so this makes sense, right?
We can now take a deeper look into many more locations that flyer distributors work within. You can then calculate how close or far away they are to you. Additionally, we can also see how and why it works in those particular places. Let’s begin.
Which public areas do flyer distributors work in?
In my experience, it will all depend on the particular breed of distribution job that you are doing. Distribution materials have a different effect in different places. Businesses usually only ever send catalogs and brochures through the doors of homes. On the other hand, you can put up a poster almost anywhere in public, within reason.
Normally, employers like to make it easy for their distribution workers. They do this by picking out locations that are close to home and fairly easy for employees to travel to and from. They’re nice like that. Not to mention, this benefits both the employee and employer because you will be more efficient in your work this way.
Where do flyer distributors work? There is a big demand for distribution marketing in public places and buildings such as:
- schools
- museums
- cafes
- banks
- arenas
- libraries
- gyms
- hospitals
- city halls
- pubs
- cinemas
- filling stations
- shopping malls
- restaurants
- colleges
- dentists
- supermarkets
- art galleries
- bus & train stations
- theaters
- post offices
- universities
- places of worship
- sport centers
- hotels
- bars
- stores
Phew, that’s a lot of places, almost too many some might say. It can be any of these locations or any other place you can think of where there are lots of people.
Where else do flyer distribution workers distribute?
For the most part, flyer distribution jobs involve mailing distribution materials through the doors of homes in the surrounding area. People in the industry know this as door-drop marketing. Notably, this is something that I’m personally most familiar with doing.
Distributors also distribute posters outdoors and inside public buildings. Venues like these usually have bulletin or notice boards where people can pin their advertisement which is ideal.
You can ask someone in charge if you can post your advertisement on to a wall or a window where other posters might be. Sometimes flyer distribution companies ask their employees to hand out leaflets to walkers out in the open on a busy high street.
Does flyer distribution happen everywhere?
I know that flyer distribution marketing happens all around the world. You will have a hard time finding a country that doesn’t currently have some sort of flyer or leaflet distribution campaign going on.
The distribution campaign of a brand doesn’t necessarily have to be local. Businesses are free to distribute on a national and sometimes even a global scale. Consequently, wherever there are people, there will probably be flyer distribution campaigns happening.
This is good for you the distributor too because there are work opportunities available to you far and wide, wherever you live. You don’t just have to be operating in the one place where a business wants to market itself. My overall point here is that pin-point targeting is mainly just useful for businesses that operate locally.
Do flyer distributors have to work in a specific location?
It won’t be the same location all the time, obviously. Distribution employers require flyer and poster distributors to work in lots of different places. However, this does not usually happen on the same day. Your boss might ask you to distribute flyers in a certain area. They may assign you one street or block to do, for instance.
From my experience, it will probably just be a small area. In reality, one flyer distributor can only cover so much ground in one day. Employers and clients can always divide up lots of distributors over a large map. This way they can spread the message around more efficiently.
Of course, if you are handing out flyers and leaflets on a high street then it will all be happening in one place. You won’t really have to move far as pedestrians and other passersby will come directly to you.

Can flyer distributors work locally?
You should be able to find flyer distribution work close to where you live. This is usually true unless you live somewhere very rural like The Shire from The Lord of the Rings. In this case, you might need to commute a little further for work.
It tends to be a lot easier to find a flyer distribution job if you live in a busy city, in my view. You can also find a decent amount of distribution work in the suburbs too. By the same token, it is likely that there are targets for flyer distribution near to where you live so I wouldn’t worry too much.
Normally, you would be distributing flyers within your local area so you won’t need to go too far afield. Alternatively, certain areas might not have a high demand for
flyer distributors which can be disappointing. I find that a lot depends on where you live.
Do flyer distributors get to travel to new places?
I believe that one of the great things about being a flyer distributor is that it’s an outdoor job. You might be someone who hasn’t explored every inch of the town or city that you live in. As a result, a flyer or leaflet distribution job will let you do this as well as allowing you to venture out much further too.
Distribution work involves quite a lot of travel. You might be able to go to interesting, new places that you wouldn’t have had the chance to go to otherwise. Then again, your supervisor might ask you to distribute on the same old streets that you know like the back of your hand. It’s a mixed bag.
Do flyer distributors have to travel far?
It would not be worth the time or money for a flyer distribution employer to send you from one end of town to the other. This is nonsensical as they have other flyer distributors close by that can do that in your place.
On the contrary, it’s more logical for you to distribute as many flyers as possible for the day in one specific place on foot.
Is the demand for flyer distributors different depending on the place?
Flyer distribution companies may have more of a desire for distributors who reside in an area that they are operating in. There may be a more desperate demand for flyer distributors who live in certain post or zip codes. That’s true if they don’t have many distributors working there in the first place.
Distribution employers won’t want to hire any more flyer distributors if they already have more than enough in a particular area. This doesn’t necessarily mean that they are leaving other workers out. Conversely, distribution is huge. Chances are there is a distribution campaign happening nearby no matter where you live.
It isn’t all bad for employees who live out in the sticks. Companies are usually desperate to hire distributors in areas that aren’t heavily populated. This is because they usually don’t have enough workers there as it is.
This information should now have given you a better idea of exactly where a flyer or poster distributor spends the working day. Distribution takes place both on a global scale and it can be local to your area.
We can learn that flyer distribution happens anywhere people reside. This can be on the street or in other public buildings. We also know that flyer distribution offers a lot in the way of exploration of new places. You can fairly easily find work near where you live too.
If you think that you have an interest in applying for a flyer distributor job then your next step should be to perform further research. You can learn more by reading additional articles or books about flyer distribution.
If you do seal the deal on a flyer distribution job, you could even explore the local area before you start work. Accordingly, you will then have a better grasp of how to get around easily. Also, you shouldn’t get lost as often this way.
It’s all well and good knowing where to distribute. However, it’s also helpful to know How To Distribute Posters In Stores & Other Public Places.
Can you think of any locations for flyer distribution that I have missed? Whereabouts do you personally love or hate to work while out distributing? Please don’t forget to share this with your friends and comment below. Thanks for reading!
